rare uk djm 45 7`` repress in company sleeve. killer freakbeat single. this 45 was released under the name of argosy with rodger hodgson (supertramp) on vocals & reginald dwight (elton john) on keyboards. a couple of weeks later reginald changed his name to elton john and the rest is history. it was the name he also used in bluesology, but no one mentions argosy. ``that`s because so far all of my press releases have been mentioning the fact that argosy was a band which in fact it never was,`` says roger hodgson (of supertramp). ``what happened is that i got a recording contract for a single. once we started recording ``mister boyd`` someone was drafted in as a keyboard player session musician, and that someone was reginald dwight. i don`t even recall having spoken to him during that session. he came in, did his bit, and then left. as far as i`m concerned i wanted argosy to be a band but in the end my publisher didn`t want that.``. --- live..for kicks. south london punk band brutal attack have made many cd`s, but this is the first two releases on one cd, the very rare 1982 release of `live ..for kicks` and the 1986 release of `stronger than before`. fresh from high school and full of energy, they supported the uk subs at the famous 100 club in oxford street, london. then they met up with skrewdriver and went on to do numerous gigs with them. ``stab `em back - for me and mitcham" / ``knives in the dark.stab `em in the head`` / ``bricks and bottles, knives and steel, one thought on your mind kill..``. the date was 2nd feb 1982, and here they crash through 14 gutsy, full of attitude tracks which are mostly 2 minute / 3 chord tunes. recorded by the band themselves through the mixing desk..it was their first release on their own `scarlet records` label. this is a rare chance to hear brutal attack how they began back in the day..it sounds 10 times better than the studio versions, but then only 2 of the tracks made it onto the first studio album. also includes an outragous tongue in cheek version of the troggs` `wild thing`!! the inside cover is the tour poster from one of the very first gigs at phipps bridge community centre, mitcham: admission 35p! live tracks are: outside / bondage boy / now your dead / who`s mad / show no mercy / boring government / it`s my life / violent police / let it burn / knives in the dark / sen` `em back / total control / living for kicks / wild thing. the other 14 tracks are later, more subdued, studio tracks: stronger than before / outside / we only came to dance / freedom / let it burn / rivers of blood / justice is a joke / the return of st. george / victim / white pride-white passion / daun patrol / no-one remembers / middle class fools / tell it like it is. . 		   CD£14.99
